Best Sitcom Tattoo Scenes

TV has always been a major influence from Rachel’s famous hairstyle, to Homer’s classic phrase “Doh!” which was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2001. Tattoos have gained a lot of traction due to many popular sitcoms, and we’re highlighting a few of our favorite ink moments on the tube.

Friends

One of the OG episodes in Friends was season 2 episode 16 where Phoebe and Rachel set out for tattoos. Rachel comes out with a tiny red heart on her butt, and Phoebe comes out with a blue dot, claiming that’s how her dead mother sees the Earth. Rachel hilariously calls her out saying, “Your mother is up in heaven going, 'Where the hell is my lily, you wuss?'

**Anyone remember the The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry, when everyone thinks Phoebe is a pornstar? Rachel points out a Tweety Bird tattoo on her ankle, proving it was actually Phoebe’s twin sister Ursula. Funny a tattoo is the only way to tell them apart!

The Office

Who can’t remember Andy Bernard’s bare ass on their TV screen at a tattoo shop in Scranton, PA. There’s an unrealistic office challenge in which 5,000 points results in Andy getting a tattoo. Everyone conspires against him and pools their points. Being a people-pleaser, Andy follows through with the mystery tattoo on his butt, which ended up being an ode to Andy as “Nard Dog.”

Modern Family

Claire and Haley are trying to bond on Haley’s 21st birthday. Claire emphasizes Haley is grown up and can make her own decisions, and Haley decides to get a tattoo. Ultimately, they end up at the tattoo shop and Claire is the one in the ink chair!

New Girl

Perhaps one of the funnier moments on New Girl (although there are millions) is when Nick gives Schmidt and Cece their “wedding gift.” To their surprise it’s a detailed tattoo of the two of them on his calf. He clearly should have stuck to the registry… they both hated it.

That ‘70s Show

In an attempt to woo Donna after reading he was too wimpy in her journal, Eric decides the first thing to do to become more “dangerous” is to get some ink. He tries to get “Donna” tattooed on his butt by the local stoner, who continually thinks that her name is Debbie and royally Fs it up.

The Simpsons

Let us not forget some classic cartoons, aka The Simpsons. During the holiday season the fam goes Christmas shopping together. Bart sneaks off to get himself a tattoo that he’s been begging his parents for. He lies about his age, and hops in the chair. He’s halfway through getting “Mother” tattooed on his arm when Marge rips him out of the tattoo parlor. Unfortunately, the tat wasn’t complete, ultimately reading “MOTH.” Marge has to spend all of the family’s holiday funds getting it removed.

We know there are so many more episodes with awesome inkage (still trying to make that a word.) Leave a comment below with your top TV tattoo scenes.

xx,
